Two articles are published in volume 102 of the Proceedings of the South Dakota Academy of Science describing new species. In the first article, Mattison Sheero, Ed Welsh, Katherine Marriott and Donald Prothero describe an extinct deer based on a fossil from the Badlands National Monument (Shreero, et al. 2023). In the second, Paul Johnson, Abigail Martens and Arvid Boe of SDSU describe a parasitic moth among insects associated with wild licorice (Johnson, et al. 2023).
